July 2024 Registers as Second Highest Temperature Month on Record
Recent data has shown that July of this year soared to become the second warmest month ever recorded, with an average global air temperature of 16.91°C. This announcement was made following an analysis by Copernicus, the Earth Observation arm of the European Union’s space initiative. This month experienced the hottest days ever recorded, pushing the boundaries of our understanding of global heat.
Despite falling slightly short of July 2023’s all-time high, the significance of this period cannot be understated. It marks the end of a period that saw 13 consecutive monthly temperature records shattered from the previous June, highlighting an ongoing battle with rising global temperatures.
