Calm Amidst the Tremors: Modi Addresses Delhi-NCR Earthquake Concerns

Modi Urges Calm After Delhi-NCR Earthquake Tremors

In a message to the residents of Delhi and its neighboring areas, the Prime Minister expressed his concerns following the recent seismic event that was felt across the region. He emphasized the importance of staying calm and adhering to safety procedures, while remaining vigilant for any potential aftershocks. Authorities have been tasked with closely monitoring the unfolding situation.

The earthquake, registering a magnitude of 4.0, occurred at approximately 5:36 a.m., creating a wave of alarm throughout the region’s communities. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake originated at a depth of 5 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface.

The geographical coordinates of the seismic activity were identified at a latitude of 28.59 North and a longitude of 77.16 East. As a result, several sectors of the National Capital Region, including Delhi, Noida, Indirapuram, and surrounding locales, experienced noticeable tremors.

The NCS confirmed this seismic incident, succinctly detailing the event: “Magnitude: 4.0, Occurrence: 17/02/2025, Time: 05:36:55 IST, Location: New Delhi, Delhi, Depth: 5 Km.”

The tremors were fleeting, yet their considerable force was sufficient to cause a sense of unease among the populace. Residents reported experiencing abrupt movements, prompting swift responses such as vacating buildings and seeking secure locations.

Thankfully, at this stage, there have been no reports of significant structural damage or injuries. Nonetheless, the authorities reassured the public that they are maintaining a vigilant watch and will disseminate additional information as it becomes available.

The region encompassing Delhi-NCR is classified within Seismic Zone IV, indicating a predisposition to moderate to strong seismic disturbances. As such, it is crucial for residents to remain informed and practice recommended safety measures during such incidents.

Residents are reminded to stay alert and oriented towards safety protocols to ensure the welfare and security of their communities when seismic activities occur.
