Explore the Amazon in Style: andBeyond’s First Expedition Yacht Offers Eco-Friendly Adventure

andBeyond to Launch First Expedition Yacht on the Amazon

Adventure enthusiasts and eco-conscious travelers will soon have the opportunity to embark on a unique journey with andBeyond’s first Amazonian expedition yacht. Designed with sustainability as a priority, this modern river vessel will explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Peruvian Amazon, offering cruises ranging from three to seven nights. Departing from Iquitos, Peru, the yacht will navigate into the heart of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.

The yacht’s interior design pays homage to local culture, drawing inspiration from the traditional Shipibo-Conibo art and style. Each of the 15 suites, which includes two superior suites and one deluxe suite, exudes an authentic sense of place. The décor is infused with motifs and elements from local Kené art, ensuring that guests experience a genuine connection to the region.

Onboard amenities are designed for ultimate comfort and engagement. Guests will find a tranquil spa and fully equipped gym, alongside the ‘River Retreat’ relaxation area, which boasts a pool deck and lounge perfect for unwinding. For culinary enthusiasts, an interactive cooking station is available, where guests can immerse themselves in local culinary arts. Additionally, the Explorer Centre serves as an educational hub, offering talks and briefings to enrich the travel experience.

The expeditions are crafted to offer a rich variety of activities, guided by experienced experts. Adventurers can participate in skiff and kayak outings, engage in wildlife spotting, try their hand at piranha fishing, and enjoy guided walks through the rainforest. For those seeking a touch of intrigue, nighttime adventures in the jungle promise to reveal the Amazon’s secrets.

Beyond providing a luxury travel experience, andBeyond is committed to conservation and community support. The company is launching several community-centric initiatives, including protecting river turtles, supporting educational endeavors for local students, and offering scholarships for Indigenous youth.

Joss Kent, the Executive Chairman and CEO of andBeyond, emphasizes the importance of preserving biodiversity in choosing the Amazon for this ambitious project. “The Peruvian Amazon’s rich biological diversity makes it a perfect destination for our brand of sustainable, luxury tourism,” Kent remarks. “Our objective is to safeguard these vital ecosystems while offering guests an immersive experience within these precious natural settings.”

He further explains, “We have deliberately selected Iquitos as our operational hub due to its ideal location. The upper reaches of the Amazon here are narrower and less congested compared to further downstream in Brazil, making it perfect for our expeditionary cruises. Our yacht is designed to be sleek and graceful, capable of navigating key channels while maintaining an intimate atmosphere for our guests.”

The andBeyond Amazon Explorer aims to delve deeply into the expansive, five-million-acre Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. By utilizing light skiffs for excursions, the yacht provides a curated and intimate river experience, balancing responsible tourism with the celebration of the Amazon’s incredible biodiversity.

Currently under construction at the SIMA Shipyard in Iquitos, the andBeyond Amazon Explorer is scheduled to make its maiden voyage on September 29, 2026. This innovative initiative promises not only to elevate ecological tourism but also to contribute positively to the local communities and the environment of the Amazon.
